  1. How many channels of music are available?
    Over 150 channels of commercial free music are available. See the Full Channel Listing.


  2. Are all of the music channels commercial-free?
    Yes, all of XM's music channels are 100% commercial-free.


  3. Besides music, what other content is available?
    33 channels of news, sports, talk and other audio entertainment is available. This link provides a listing of all the channels you will receive except "Playboy Radio" which is not available to business subscribers.


  4. Is seasonal holiday music available?
    Yes, during the last quarter of the year, 3 channels of different types of holiday music are available at no extra price.


  5. Can I prevent my employees from playing certain channels that might not be appropriate for my business?
    Yes. All you need to do is call our toll free XM for Business Hot line and have any of the channels deleted from your lineup.


  6. How much does the XM service for business cost?
    $27.95 per month for a single XM receiver.


  7. Why is there a difference in cost between a commercial and regular consumer account?
    A consumer account is established when customers listen to XM programming for personal use in their vehicle or home. In a commercial or business setting, such as a doctor's office, dentist's office, restaurant/bar, retail stores, hair salons, malls, greyhound buses, airlines, river cruise boats, etc. many customers and/or employees are listening to XM programming as background music. With an XM Commercial Service package for your business, XM reports and pays all commercial licensing and royalty obligations to the artists, unless you operate an establishment that charges an admissions or membership fee (e.g. a theme park, skating rink, dance club, health club, etc.) or use music sources other than XM (e.g. CDs, DJs, live music or terrestrial radio, etc.), in which case you are responsible for payment of any copyright royalties to ASCAP, BMI, SESAC or for any sound recordings.


  8. Is there a long term commitment or contract required?
    There are no long-term commitments, hidden cancellation fees, or contracts required. XM is provided on a month to month basis.


  9. Are commercial music rights fees paid by XM?
    XM pays all required fees to ASCAP, BMI, SESAC, etc. There are no additional fees you are required to pay.


  10. What is the charge if I want a second XM receiver to play in another part of my business?
    After the first radio at a location, the XM service for a second radio at the same business address is $9.99 per month.


  11. Is there a one time activation fee?
    Yes. Its $14.99 per radio activated.


  12. What billing options are available?
    Billing can be monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or annually. A $2.00 fee per invoice applies for accounts that choose invoice billing. The fee is per invoice, not per month.


  13. What equipment do I need to get XM in my business?
    You need an XM satellite receiver with the accessories for business use. There are many equipment options available with the two most popular being the SkyFi2 or Roady2. For each there is an associated "kit" that provides all of the cables, power adapters and the required outdoor / indoor antenna. There is also a 50 foot antenna extension cable available if the radio is to be located more than 20 feet from the antenna. If required, a 50' antenna extension cable is available for $39.99.   14. What's the difference between the Roady2 and SkyFi2?
    The SkyFi2 has a remote control and a larger display panel. SkyFi2 is modular and also will work with our Boom Box. Roady2 is smaller than the SkyFi2 and does not come with a remote control.


  15. How much does the equipment cost?

    The total price for the SkyFi2 and its in-store kit that includes all required accessories, cables, remote control and the antenna with 20 foot cable is:
    SkyFi2 Radio: $119.99
    In-Store Kit: $69.99
    Total: $189.98


    The total price for the Roady2 and its in-store kit that includes all the required accessories, cables and antenna with 20 foot cable is:

  17. Do I need a sound system?
    The Roady2 and SKYFi2 are both designed to work with existing sound systems. For smaller areas, the XM /Delphi Boom Box audio system will provide very acceptable volume levels and audio fidelity without the need for a separate sound system.   18. Where does the antenna mount?
    The small 2.5" x 3" antenna can be mounted inside any south facing window or skylight with a clear unobstructed view of the southern sky. The satellite signal will also penetrate some wooden roofs and XM has an extensive network of terrestrial repeaters in most cities so other locations inside your business may work as well for the antenna. In most cases an outdoor antenna is not required. In cases where an outdoor antenna is required, the supplied 2.5" x 3" low profile antenna is weather proof and can be easily mounted on an external wall pointing in a general south facing direction with a clear view of the sky. Roof mounting is generally not required.


  19. Do I need an outdoor roof-mounted antenna and permission from my landlord?
    No. In most cases an outdoor antenna is not required. In the cases where an outdoor antenna is required, the supplied 2" x 3" low profile antenna is weather-proof and can be easily mounted on an external wall with the antenna pointed in a general south facing direction with a clear view of the sky. Roof mounting is generally not required.


  20. Is the XM signal subject to outages from rain or snow?
    No. Unlike other satellite services and music services you may be familiar with, XM's unique satellite technology is not subject to any kind of weather related outages.
